There are THREE parts to the Louisiana CDL Skills Test
You must obtain a
Louisiana CLP (commercial learners permit) prior to taking your Louisiana CDL skills test.
Louisiana Basic Control Skills Tests
- Straight line backing
- Offset right or left backing
- Alley dock backing
The backing control skills information for each representative "type"
vehicle is found in Section 12 of the
Free
Louisiana CDL Handbook (Commercial Driver's License Manual).
The three-part Louisiana CDL skills tests must be scheduled (often more than a week ahead).
They are given either by a Louisiana state tester or by a Louisiana state approved third party
tester. Depending on where you live, you will either have to provide a proper
vehicle or one will be provided for you. This may vary from location to location.
