There are THREE parts to the South Carolina CDL Skills Test
You must obtain a
South Carolina CLP (commercial learners permit) prior to taking your South Carolina CDL skills test.
South Carolina Basic Control Skills Tests
- Straight line backing
- Offset right or left backing
- Alley dock backing
The backing control skills information for each representative "type"
vehicle is found in Section 12 of the
Free
South Carolina CDL Handbook (Commercial Driver's License Manual).
The three-part South Carolina CDL skills tests must be scheduled (often more than a week ahead).
They are given either by a South Carolina state tester or by a South Carolina state approved third party
tester. Depending on where you live, you will either have to provide a proper
vehicle or one will be provided for you. This may vary from location to location.
