Washington School Bus Endorsement (S)
School Bus (S) CDL Endorsement
This endorsement allows a person to operate a
school bus or a bus transporting school pre-primary, primary or secondary
school students from home to school, from school to home, or to and from school-sponsored
events. Anyone who drives a school bus to and from a public school must have
a school bus endorsement to do so. Those who drive a bus designed to transport
16 or more passengers including the driver are required to have a Washington CDL with
a passenger endorsement "P" and a School Bus "S" endorsement. Both written
and skills tests are required to obtain this endorsement.
Washington School Bus Endorsement CDL Learner Permit Training Program
This exam is taken by only those who require a "School Bus" endorsement
because they will drive a School Bus. This endorsement is required in addition
to the Passenger Vehicles (P) Endorsement.
The Washington CDL School Bus (S) Endorsement can be added to a valid Washington CDL by passing
the Washington CDL School Bus written test, passing a three-part skills test in a
school bus and paying the required fees. Check your specific
