There are THREE parts to the West Virginia CDL Skills Test
You must obtain a
West Virginia CLP (commercial learners permit) prior to taking your West Virginia CDL skills test.
West Virginia Basic Control Skills Tests
- Straight line backing
- Offset right or left backing
- Alley dock backing
The backing control skills information for each representative "type"
vehicle is found in Section 12 of the
Free
West Virginia CDL Handbook (Commercial Driver's License Manual).
The three-part West Virginia CDL skills tests must be scheduled (often more than a week ahead).
They are given either by a West Virginia state tester or by a West Virginia state approved third party
tester. Depending on where you live, you will either have to provide a proper
vehicle or one will be provided for you. This may vary from location to location.
