Combination Vehicles CDL Endorsement
This exam is taken by those applicants applying for a Class A Vermont CDL. A Class
A Vermont CDL is required to operate a combination of vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001
or more pounds provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess
of 10,000 pounds GVW, which includes ALL Class "A" license applicants.
Many states require a Class A CDL when pulling any commercial trailer exceeding
10,000 GVWR, regardless of the CGVWR (COMBINED Gross Vehicle Weight Rating).
Check your state rules.
You must have a Class A Vermont CDL to drive "combination" vehicles.
In order to get a Class A Vermont Commercial Driver's License, you must pass the
Vermont CDL General Knowlwdge written test + the Vermont CDL Air Brakes written test
+ the Vermont CDL Combination Vehicles written test. You must also pass the three-part
Vermont CDL Skills Tests in a "representative" vehicle. You must provide
all required documentation and pay all required fees. Check your specific
