There are THREE parts to the New Mexico CDL Skills Test
You must obtain a
New Mexico CLP (commercial learners permit) prior to taking your New Mexico CDL skills test.
New Mexico Basic Control Skills Tests
- Straight line backing
- Offset right or left backing
- Alley dock backing
The backing control skills information for each representative "type"
vehicle is found in Section 12 of the
Free
New Mexico CDL Handbook (Commercial Driver's License Manual).
The three-part New Mexico CDL skills tests must be scheduled (often more than a week ahead).
They are given either by a New Mexico state tester or by a New Mexico state approved third party
tester. Depending on where you live, you will either have to provide a proper
vehicle or one will be provided for you. This may vary from location to location.
